Olive's Cottage is located at Windermere on the eastern side of the Tamar River, 20 km north of Launceston, in northern Tasmania. Launceston and Tamar Valley and Wine RouteNative Point vineyard is a new vineyard established at Swan Bay, only four kilometres further on from the cottage, opposite Gravelly Beach.
Directions and travel times:To find Olive's Cottage, leave Launceston taking the East Tamar Highway (A8) in the direction of Georgetown. Pass through Dilston, then several kilometres later, at the 18 km mark, you will find the Windermere Store. Take the Windermere Road turn-off on your left. Olive's Cottage is 2 km further on, on the river side of the road.
The drive to and from Launceston is a very easy and scenic one, on a well-made road. From Olive's Cottage, it takes just 15 minutes to drive into town for those forgotten provisions, for a wander around the streets, to see a show or film, or to dine at one of the city's excellent restaurants. Olive's Cottage is around 30 minutes from the airport. Approximately, it is a 90 minute drive from the Devonport ferry, 2.5 to 3 hours from Hobart, and 1.5 to 2 hours from Freycinet National Park.
